Big news: a Concorde has been spotted over the Arava. Or rather small news, as it was just under 2 meters long. We visit a model air show, an hour up north by car, together with Ruth and Yuval.

Very professional, with teams from Israel and Europa. The Swiss team arrived with a gigantic truck. There were helicopters tolling through the air like crazy bees, and jet fighters with real jet engines that roared overhead and simulated battle with fireworks.

There was even an Airbus A340 walking about!!

Yuval has arranged some old wood, and with their guest Sven-Okke we make a trip to Har Ga-Glil. Stunning views over a copper mine, Timna park, and a river of sand that seems to cascade down the mountains. The wood is set on fire in a safe place, and we have a delicious BBQ in the desert.

It's amazing how much you can pack in a suitcase: this time we had 2 complete hand bows in one of the shells of the suitcase, with all accoutrements, such as arm- and finger protection, targets, arrows and spare parts. In wadi Schlomo, near Eilat, we put the bows to the test.

The target is attached to a carton box, filled with bubble plastic. Not hefty enough though, since the arrows shoot partly through the box and appear on the other side.

There is saying: "it is as unlikely as snow in Eilat". Not! Every year in February, a truck comes down to Eilat with snow from the Golan heights. The kids just love it! A couple of hours and lots of trampling feeds later, the snow has turned to ice, but the lumps keep flying through the air.

We are suddenly in a winter mood, and celebrate with sauerkraut and bacon. The bacon is from a Russian supermarket, the sauerkraut from a can, but the spicing is very Dutch!
